Jeremy Pope and Gabrielle Union will star in <\/strong>The Inspection<\/em><\/strong>, an upcoming LGBTQ+ drama based on the autobiographical story of Elegance Bratton. <\/strong>The Inspection<\/em><\/strong> serves as Bratton\u2019s feature-film debut.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set to begin production this summer, the drama film will follow Pope (<\/strong>One Night in Miami<\/em><\/strong>), who plays a young gay man that enlists in the Marines\u2013\u2013presumably a decision he makes in order to win his mother\u2019s (Union\u2019s) approval, which means everything to him. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bratton\u2019s recent documentary, Pier Kids<\/em>, received honors from Spirit Award and Outfest. It examines the lives of the Black, homeless queer and trans youth who found home at New York City\u2019s Christopher Street Pier. Bratton, too, found home here for a decade beginning at 16.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Inspection<\/em> is being produced by Dear White People\u2019s<\/em> Effie T. Rising actor and Broadway performer Pope has already earned Emmy, Tony, and Grammy nominations for his work in Netflix’s Hollywood<\/em>, the play Choir Boy,<\/em> and the musical Ain’t Too Proud<\/em>.
