Nominees for the 15 categories were announced via the NAACP\u2019s Instagram page on February 2nd.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cWe are excited to recognize and celebrate this year\u2019s nominees, who at times throughout this unprecedented year have provided moments of levity, brought our communities together, and lifted our spirits through culture when we needed it the most,\u201d NAACP President\/CEO Derrick Johnson told <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/thegrapevine.theroot.com\/aint-no-sowhite-over-here-2021-naacp-image-awards-nom-1846182418\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>The Root<\/b><\/a><b>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The NAACP\u2019s newly created Social Impact honor has nominated April Ryan, Debbie Allen, Lebron James, Stacey Abrams and Tamika Mallory. As for the entertainer of the year award, D-Nice, Regina King, Viola Davis, Trevor Noah, and Tyler Perry are all nominated.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Here are a few highlights for this year\u2019s upcoming ceremony celebrating Black voices in film, music, and literature.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><b>FILM<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>In regards to film, Netflix took the lead with a grand total of 48 titles receiving accolades.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>In the Outstanding Motion Picture category, <\/b><b><i>Ma Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom<\/i><\/b><b>,<\/b><b><i> One Night In Miami<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Da 5 Bloods<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey<\/i><\/b><b>, and <\/b><b><i>Bad Boys For Life<\/i><\/b><b> are in the running. Chadwick Boseman, who starred in both<\/b><b><i> Ma Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom<\/i><\/b><b> and<\/b><b><i> Da 5 Bloods<\/i><\/b><b>, received two posthumous nominations for each film.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Indie films within the Outstanding Independent Motion Picture category include <\/b><b><i>Miss Juneteenth<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>The 24th<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Emperor<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Farewell Amor<\/i><\/b><b>, and <\/b><b><i>The Banker<\/i><\/b><b>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Well-deserving nominees lie within the Outstanding Television Movie, Limited\u2013Series or Dramatic Special category<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><b><i>Hamilton<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Little Fires Everywhere<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Sylvie\u2019s Love<\/i><\/b><b> and <\/b><b><i>The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Among those nominated for Outstanding Drama Series are <\/b><b><i>Bridgerton<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Lovecraft Country<\/i><\/b><b>,\u00a0 <\/b><b><i>All Rise<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Power Book II: Ghost<\/i><\/b><b>, and<\/b><b><i> This Is Us<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>The nominees for Outstanding Animated Motion Picture are <\/b><b><i>Soul<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Trolls World Tour<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Over the Moon, Scoob!<\/i><\/b><b>, and<\/b><b><i> Onward.<\/i><\/b><b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Comedy series brought much-needed laughter in the trying times of 2020. The noms for Outstanding Comedy Series include <\/b><b><i>#blackAF<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Black-ish<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>grown-ish<\/i><\/b><b>, <\/b><b><i>Insecure<\/i><\/b><b>, and <\/b><b><i>The Last O.G<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><b>MUSIC<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>In the realm of music, Outstanding New Artists include Doja Cat, Chika, D Smoke, Giveon, and Skip Marley.\u00a0 Outstanding <\/b><b>Male Artist nominees are Big Sean, Black Thought, Charlie Wilson, Drake, and John Legend.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Beyonc\u00e9, E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Ledisi, and Alicia Keys are all among the Outstanding Female Artist nominees.\u00a0 Honored for an Outstanding Album nomination: <\/b><b><i>Alicia<\/i><\/b><b> by Alicia Keys, <\/b><b><i>b7<\/i><\/b><b> by Brandy, <\/b><b><i>Bigger Love<\/i><\/b><b> by John Legend, <\/b><b><i>Chilombo<\/i><\/b><b> by Jhen\u00e9 Aiko, and\u00a0 <\/b><b><i>The Wild Card<\/i><\/b><b> by LEDISI.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>A few songs that have been nominated are \u201cI Can\u2019t Breathe\u201d by H.E.R., \u201cSavage Remix\u201d by Megan Thee Stallion feat.
