The first comes from her admirable performance as the heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the biopic <em>Harriet<\/em>. I\u2019m ambitious and all, but this is unbelievable. I\u2019m overjoyed and overwhelmed. And I\u2019m glad to be a part of this story about Harriet Tubman, which needed to be told.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>In conversation with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2019\/12\/cynthia-erivo-harriet-golden-globe-nominations-reaction-1202804912\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deadline<\/a>, who spoke to Erivo about the significance of Harriet Tubman\u2019s story, she emphasized how the world finally gets to truly see her outside of a history book or monument.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>\u201cI think she\u2019s been a picture for so long or a monument. Our history books don\u2019t really talk about her life,\u201d she said. \u201cShe\u2019s almost a paragraph and only a paragraph. Now we get to at least have an image. We get to know a little bit more of who she was as a person.
