The new song will be featured on <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Queen &amp; Slim\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">official soundtrack, which is set to be released on November 15th.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">The soundtrack will feature 17 songs from modern day artists such as Vince Staples, Tiana Major9 &amp; EARTHGANG, BJ The Chicago Kid and Syd, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lil Baby. Older songs by Roy Ayers, Bilal, and Mike Jones will also be thrown into the mix.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">\u201cI wanted the soundtrack for <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: italic; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Queen &amp; Slim<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\"> to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul to modern bounce, hip hop and R&amp;B&#8211;much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s,&#8221; said the film\u2019s director Melina Matsoukas. &#8220;We partnered with Motown because of their legacy within Black music. I am honored to have worked beside Ethiopia [Habtemariam] and cannot wait for audiences to hear what each artist has created.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-09c992b7-7fff-6c7e-3a9d-8a64d32f6679\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Written by Lena Waithe and James Frey,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-style: italic; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\"> Queen &amp; Slim <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;\">centers on the first date of a man (Slim) and woman (Queen), which results in the two of them being forced to go on the run after Slim kills a police officer in self-defense during a minor traffic violation.
