12:44 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actor Jharrel Jerome of “When They See Us” says he cried so much when he learned of his Emmy nomination that you would have thought he had lost a family member.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jerome told The Associated Press that it “was just pure joy and pure happiness and pride” that drove him to tears Tuesday when he learned he was nominated for best actor in a limited series or movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His was one of 16 nominations for the Netflix show about the false accusations against the so-called Central Park Five.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 21-year-old Jerome says he was in a restaurant with friends from high school when he learned he was nominated, which led to broken glasses and stunned customers amid the wild celebration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Star of Hulu’s “The Act” Joey King sobbed when she learned of her first Emmy nomination.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She says it’s the greatest moment of her life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

King told The Associated Press that “my whole body is shaking, I’m so excited” after hearing her name among the nominees Tuesday for best actress in a limited series or movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

King played Gypsy Blanchard, a woman whose abusive mother keeps her permanently sick and childlike on the show based on a true story.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The actress says she’s in South Africa and shooting the film “The Kissing Booth 2” and was sitting in a transport vehicle watching the Emmys livestream on an old computer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

King said she had a phone call with co-star Patricia Arquette, who played her mother in “The Act” but was nominated in the same category for “Escape At Dannemora.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

HBO has reclaimed its throne as king of Emmy nominations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cable network received a whopping 137 nominations Tuesday morning, riding the dragon wings of “Game of Thrones,” which received a record 32. The nominations include best actress in a drama for Emilia Clarke and best actor in a drama for Kit Harington.<\/strong><\/p>\n

HBO’s “Chernobyl” and “Barry” also brought in big numbers of nominations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Netflix ended HBO’s 17-year reign last year to win the most nominations but was bumped to second this year with 117.<\/strong><\/p>\n

NBC was a distant third with 58 nods, a figure that led all broadcast networks. CBS had 43 and ABC 26.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amazon’s Prime Video was second to Netflix among streamers with 47 nominations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9’s “Homecoming” film has scored six Emmy nominations, while documentaries on Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and the disastrous Fyre Festival also picked up nods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Netflix’s “Homecoming: A Film by Beyonc\u00e9,” the pop star earned four of the six nominations Tuesday, including bids for producing, writing, co-directing and musical direction. “Homecoming” will compete with “Springsteen on Broadway” in the outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) category.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Homecoming” also earned nominations for costumes and production design.<\/strong><\/p>\n

HBO’s “Leaving Neverland” and Netflix’s “FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened” will compete for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special. Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” is up for outstanding informational series or special.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban share a nomination for their work on the Tony Awards. T Bone Burnett scored a nomination for his musical score of HBO’s “True Detective.”<\/strong><\/p>\n
